I really enjoyed this book. It carried me on a high-stakes thrill ride set in the electrifying city of Azoria. The author did a great job at building and intricate and imaginative world. Coupled with witty dialogue and an exciting narrative made it very difficult stop reading. The main character toes the line between thief and performer; his heists are grand spectacles and deception is his art form. He is clever and bold while remaining deeply human, making his story both thrilling and emotionally engaging. I've never read a book that uses the concept of heists as carefully orchestrated performances. I found this twist refreshing and captivating. I'm excited to get to the next chapter of this trilogy!

I picked this up on a whim and got completely hooked. The story moves fast, keeping me on my toes with unexpected turns. The characters feel raw and real, making their choices hit harder. I usually see plot twists coming—this time, I didn’t. Definitely a fun, intense read that left me ready for book two!

World-building and character development really stood out for me when I read this novel which is stuffed with tough action, witty dialogue, and stars a cunning, daring protagonist. Azoria is steampunk world full of innovation and intrigue. Personal struggles prevail to keep interest amidst all the political tension in the book, a delicate balance on the part of the writer. This is the kind of read that’d be nice to see acted out on a stage.

Just finished By Hook & Crook, the first book in the Kings of Copper Trilogy by S.G. Karam, and wow, what a ride! Set in the vibrant city of Azoria, where heists are not just legal but celebrated as public spectacles, the story follows master thief Lars Harrow and his eclectic crew. The steampunk vibes are spot-on, with cool gadgets and a Victorian-esque setting that adds to the charm.

This book had me hooked from the start with its blend of steampunk vibes and high-stakes heist drama. Lars Harrow is the kind of protagonist you root for, flawed, ambitious, and caught in a tangled web of intrigue and betrayal. The city of Azoria feels alive with its electrifying inventions and cutthroat power plays. What I loved most was the pacing; every twist and double-cross kept me guessing. If you enjoy clever heist plots with a touch of grit and emotional depth, this book will not disappoint.

This novel will satisfy those fantasy readers that enjoy rogues. The characters are generally enjoyable, particularly Jax and Liora, the muscle and engineer of the thieves’ crew. The protagonist, Lars Harrow, has his moments, but perhaps a little more could have been done to build his character early on and then make the shock of the last heist in the story more believable. Action sequences are generally well done. Pacing is decent. All in all, many readers will find this story a decent yarn.
